This expansion card for the Tandy 1000 EX and HX computers boosts conventional memory to 736K. It can also be used to add EMS expanded memory. According to the '94 PC Enterprises catalog, it allows up to eight megabytes of expanded RAM to be added to these computers. 1MB and 4MB SIMM chips are installed on the Xtra-K 1000 PlusCard to accomplish this. Although the EX and HX were relatively inexpensive 8088 computers introduced in the 1980s, various third-party manufacturers offered products that allowed them to be heavily upgraded in several ways. With several such upgrades installed, one of these machines could potentially have VGA graphics, digital sound, 8MB RAM, a hard disk, and a modem.
