The X554M is a VGA-compatible computer monitor. It can be used with a wide range of computers. Its FCC ID is HSUTRLX-554. It supports resolutions up to 1024x768 pixels, but 640x480 looks best and produces much less eyestrain. It can also display at resolutions of 640x350, 720x400, or 800x600. If possible, use the highest refresh rate available for your resolution. The power cord can be disconnected from the X-554M monitor, but the VGA cable is not directly detachable; be careful not to damage it. Based upon measurements with a wattage meter, its power consumption usually ranges from about 45-60 watts, depending upon the on-screen colors and brightness control setting. At a fairly high brightness setting, it uses 59W with bright colors, 53W with medium colors, and 48W for a blank, black screen. It uses 55W if the computer is off but it is left on, and zero watts when it's switched off. The exterior is light-colored. A swivel base/stand can be attached to the bottom. It has several buttons and lights on the front panel, as well as analog brightness/contrast controls. There is no brand name printed on the monitor or the front cover of its manual, but the box and a three-year warranty sheet say PiXie Technologies, Inc. The same monitors may have been sold under other brand names. The X-554M CRT color monitor has performed reliably for about ten years and continues to function well. It was manufactured in 1999. INSTRUCTIONS: "Multiscan Color Monitor User's Manual" (English) UPDATE: The monitor failed after about ten years of regular use.
