The 1200 is an older portable dial-up modem that is quite small and can be operated using batteries. This product from TouchBase Systems was listed in the 1988 Tandy Computer catalog for $199 dollars as item #90-704. It can run at 300 or 1200 bps/baud and is Hayes compatible. According to AtariMagazines.com, this model was succeeded by the WorldPort 2400, which is twice as fast. Both models use an RS-232C serial connection to the computer (apparently 25-pin). Unfortunately, the uses for such modems have become few, as many ISPs now require a minimum of 9600 bps.
