Many of them are associated with speech or direction. Dictum and edict are both synonyms of "declaration" or "decree". Except for "predict", all of the above-mentioned words are nouns. "Addict" can be a noun or verb. They range from five to twelve letters each.

Most of them have variations like "addicted", "edicts", "prediction", "dictatorial" and "dictionaries"; some of these still end or begin with DICT, others do not.
