Wattage of Common Appliances

Although power consumption will vary depending upon brand, model, and settings, here are some general estimates of the wattage of common appliances in the home and office...

Coffee Maker: 550-850 watts
Electric Fan: 30-100W (LOW-HIGH)
Electric Heater: 600-1500W (LOW-HIGH)
Microwave Oven: 600-1200W (HIGH/100%)
2-Slice Toaster: 720-850W

There is too much variation in the electricity usage of other items like refrigerators, conventional ovens, vacuum cleaners, and washing machines to easily summarize their power consumption here.

Appliance owners can use a wattage meter to determine the exact electricity use of specific models. Some libraries allow people to use such meters for a period of time, rather than purchasing them.
