This park in Concord, Massachusetts offers two beaches, several walking paths, a boat launch, an amphitheater, and other amenities. It is located on Route 126 (Walden Street), and is not far from the major city of Boston. Among several trails and paths, there is a path that goes around the shore of Walden Pond. The trails, beach, and boat launch are all on the opposite side of the road from the large parking area. There is a life-size replica of Thoreau's cabin near the parking. The boat launch area is good for launching small boats such as kayaks. Walden Pond is moderately large; it does not connect to any rivers or other ponds/lakes. There are several coves in different parts of it, including Thoreau's Cove and Long Cove. A Nature Center is located on the side of the road opposite from the water and beaches. There are restrooms near the parking area and the main beach. One set is open more often, the other seasonally. They are well-maintained and have soap and running water. The Walden Pond State Reservation charges a $5.00 USD entrance fee per vehicle, significantly more for buses. Season passes are also available. It is not clear what (if anything) bicyclists or walkers must pay to use the park. NOTE: As of late April, 2010 the boat ramp and the path around the pond were closed due to flooding.
