This is a handheld FM/AM/SW "World Band Receiver" with a digital LCD, a clock, and a small integrated speaker. The R-919's digital clock also has alarm and sleep timer functions.
The Tecsun R919 is available in three different colors, including yellow (which seems to be the most common variety). It looks somewhat like a walkie-talkie. The antenna protrudes from the top. Tip: Turn your computer off for better SW and AM reception.
According to fmuser.com, which sells the Tecsun R919 for $19.80 + S/H (as of Sept. 2010), it receives seven shortwave bands (for a total of nine bands) and runs on just two standard "AA" batteries.
