The TL/3 is a 286 PC-compatible computer sold during the early '90s, with a 10 MHz CPU, 3.5" floppy drive, 640k RAM, 16-color TGA graphics, and digital sound. It is one of the last Tandy 1000 series PCs.
This model came with the MS-DOS 3.3 operating system built-in, and included the graphical user interface DeskMate 3.05 on disk. It is also capable of running GEM/3 or a very early version of Windows.
The Tandy 1000 TL/3 has built-in serial, PS/2, and printer ports. It uses an XT-class keyboard; not just any PS/2 keyboard will work. There are four 8-bit ISA internal expansion slots.
According to the "1000's Tech Notes & Jumper Manual", this Tandy has a built-in XT IDE hard drive interface, unlike the original TL (which requires a controller card to be installed first).
It is possible to add a VGA card to the Tandy 1000 TL/3 for more colors and higher resolution (although it typically isn't as fast as the built-in video). This makes it able to use a recent monitor.
The floppy drive may be upgraded to a standard 1.44MB 3.5" drive; the TL/3 came with a 720K drive. A Tandy (or compatible) 3.5" drive must be used. Remember to change the CMOS battery.
