SUNBEAM 9V BATTERY LED LIGHT

This device from Sunbeam is a rectangular white light which connects directly to a 9V battery. It comes with a plastic cover for the battery and a one-year mail-in warranty (see the package).

Sunbeam describes this product (item #11942) as a "modern alternative" to using a "tea light". The LED light turns off when placed on its side, but its power switches on when it's standing up.

It produces a red light which isn't very bright or dim. The plastic battery cover varies in color; some "9V Battery LED Light" units come with a blue cover, others pink.

Sunbeam did not include any batteries. When tested, GP and Energizer batteries fit the cover and the battery terminals. A Dorcy battery was difficult to remove and an old Ultralife battery wouldn't fit.

Another issue with this unit (or at least the one we tested) is that it often fails to turn on when it's supposed to. It also flickers at times. Try turning it slightly or tapping on it.

Amazon.com and some dollar stores sell the Sunbeam "9V Battery LED Light" for around $1 USD. It's mildly functional but certainly not worth paying any more than a dollar for.
