SPECTRA EPB-340 REVIEW

The EPB340 is a sleek, lightweight electronic organizer with 34K of memory, a QWERTY-style keypad (has upper/lowercase letters, large spacebar), and a folding protective lid. This review takes a detailed look at the features and design of the Spectra EPB-340...

Functions of the organizer include a ten-digit calculator (with number memory and +/- key), a key tone which can be turned on/off, a 30-city world time feature (lets you check the time in other time zones), password protection (optional), separate personal and business phone directories, a memo feature, metric conversions, and an alarm. The Spectra EPB-340 conveniently has quick reference instructions printed on the inside of its protective lid. More details are provided by the electronic organizer's included instruction booklet.

This unit is available in several different colors. The LCD screen has three lines, each 12 characters long (the top line can show letters/numbers, the other two only show numbers and a few symbols. The Spectra EPB-340 runs on two CR2025 coin-type batteries. The unit used for this review came with two working Panasonic batteries already installed. It automatically turns off after it hasn't been used for 7 minutes. The EPB-340 can be set to five different languages, including English, Spanish, German, French, and Italian.

Two drawbacks are the lack of a backlight and the unit's inability to transfer data to/from a computer or another organizer. Overall, the Spectra EPB-340 looks desirable unless you expect to need data transfer capabilities or a very large amount of memory.
