The 8880 is a large older, mostly black shortwave radio. It is impressive looking, with many jacks, knobs, and switches. The Sanyo RP-8880 remains quite valuable (over $100 USD), even if there are some defects in the unit up for sale.
Among other features, the Sanyo RP-8880 has three handles (two on the sides, one on top) and a built-in telescopic antenna. Its serious, heavy-duty styling suggests that it was probably manufactured during the 1980s. The RP-8880 has a rectangular shape.
RadioMuseum.org indicates that it covers the AM and LW (longwave) bands as well as shortwave. Their web site provides several pictures and a schematic of the Sanyo RP-8880. It also supplies some additional specifications.
Several comments on forums and other web pages refer to individual RP-8880 units with only one or two bands that still work (particularly FM). When purchasing a radio such as the Sanyo RP-8880, be sure it has been thoroughly tested.
