Electro Brand 4438 Deluxe Clock Radio: Unlike most clock radios, the Electro Brand model 4438 also receives the NOAA weather band and the audio of television channels 2-13, in addition to regular AM and FM. The TV audio no longer works in the U.S. (due to the digital TV transition). It also features a sleep timer, battery back-up, AC power cord, and built-in antenna wire. Radio tuning is analog, while the clock has a red digital display. It can be set to sound an alarm (fairly loud) or turn on the radio at a particular time, and has a "snooze" feature. It is easier to set than some alarm clocks, and has not exhibited any problems during over four years of use.
Emerson Research CKS-1850: This clock radio is relatively inexpensive and has many useful features, such as dual wake times, day of the week indicator, and an automatic time backup system. It worked acceptably for several months. However, after this period of time, the buttons began to fail and parts of the time display became dimmer. The radio receives AM and FM. Reception is fairly good although not remarkable. This particular unit may have not been manufactured as well as others, or this may be typical. Update: With the new start and end dates of daylight savings time, this clock's automatic daylight savings time feature is not working properly, in that it does not update at the appropriate date, then it will change the time incorrectly when the old date arrives; this is especially a problem if the buttons for manually adjusting the time have failed.
