ROSS RE-8000 RADIO

The 8000 is a large, vintage solid-state multiband receiver which can pick up a great variety of communications and broadcast stations. It tunes the AM, LW (longwave), SW, PSB (public service), FM, and AIR (aircraft) bands, and runs on AC or battery power.

The Ross RE-8000 covers VHF frequencies 30-50 MHz and 88-174 MHz, excluding a small gap from 135 to 147 MHz. It also receives longwave from 200 to 400 kHz and shortwave from four to 22 MHz (most of the SW range), plus the regular AM band.

This impressive radio has '60s styling, with chrome knobs and white pushbuttons for selecting the band. There's also a colorful fold-out world map with time zones. The Ross RE-8000 has controls (switches, knobs) for tone, squelch, BFO, and AFC.

Overall, the 8000 makes it possible to tune most shortwave, longwave, and VHF frequencies, and has the necessary adjustments (BFO, squelch) for enhanced communications listening. However, many radios this old have incurred at least minor damage.

Shape: Rectangular; Color: Black, silver; Tuning Scale: Horizontal
