REALISTIC PATROLMAN-9 RADIO FACTS

A large portable multiband receiver from the 1970s, the Realistic Patrolman-9 offers several high-end features. They include nine-band reception, BFO/SSB, a squelch control, fine tuning on all bands and two telescopic antennas. The Patrolman-9 also provides a dial light, a tone control and a tuning/battery meter. It weighs about five pounds and has a metal and plastic exterior.

This multi-band radio covers AM, shortwave (1.6 through 22 MHz), VHF/FM (30-50, 88-135, 144-174 MHz) and UHF (450-512 MHz). Although it tunes more frequencies than most multiband receivers, the Realistic Patrolman-9 does not cover the CB or longwave bands. The radio's tuning pointer moves horizontally across the large, colorful tuning scale. The band knobs or BFO control may develop problems over time.

This radio runs on AC or battery power. There is a carrying handle on the top. Sound is supplied through a moderately large built-in speaker or the headphone jack. AM sound quality is particularly good, compared to many other radios. The Realistic Patrolman-9 can receive two-way communications, foreign broadcasts, distant airport weather stations, ham radio and much more.
