About: Radio Shack CT-300 Early Cellular Phone

The RadioShack CT300 is a portable, but relatively large, cell phone introduced in 1988. As with many new technologies, it was quite expensive.

The '88 Tandy Computer catalog listed the Radio Shack CT-300 for $1,499 U.S. dollars; it could also be leased for just under $50/month. For comparison, a wooden computer desk cost $99 the same year.

The telephone's exterior is black and it has about eighteen buttons. It is much thicker than today's cellphones. There is an antenna on top of it. The catalog listing indicated an output power of 600 mW.

Accessories available for this model include an AC adapter, a mobile kit, a charging stand, and a hands-free interface.
