An advertisement in the 1988 "World Radio TV Handbook" indicates that this radio covers the full shortwave and longwave bands, as well as AM/FM. It can receive broadcasts and SSB communications. The photo shows that the D-2999 has a handle, telescopic antenna, signal meter, 1/4" headphone jack, and bass/treble knobs.
