This digital scale is designed to weigh items ranging from 0.1 ounce to five pounds (2.2kg). It offers measurements in English or Metric units. The scale is operated with three buttons; "ON/TARE", "OFF", and "oz/g". Items are placed on a round plate made of hard plastic.

The Pelouze SP5 has a "tare" feature which causes it to show the weight of the next item placed on the plate without removing the previous item. The digital display has fairly large numbers which are easy to read. An arrow indicates whether it is set to ounces or grams.

It also shows a small circle in the upper-left corner of the screen when it has finished weighing an item and provided an accurate reading. The Pelouze SP5 has five small rubber feet on its base, along with a door which opens to access the battery compartment.

The digital scale runs on a single 9-volt battery. The SP5 cannot be attached to a DC adapter or AC power cord. A "LOW BATTERY" warning appears at the top of the screen if it runs low. Removing and inserting batteries is a bit difficult, but not terribly hard.

Overall, the Pelouze SP5 is a well-made, high-quality digital scale which accurately weighs small to medium size objects to the nearest 1/10th ounce. The scale has functioned well so far, during about three years of occasional use. It also provides long battery life.
