It is a small portable radio that weighs less than one pound. There is a jack for DC power, but it also runs on 4 "AA" batteries. It has a telescoping antenna, which broke after owning the radio for a few years. However, the replacement antenna at Radio Shack cost very little.

It has fairly good reception on all bands, but the reception is not as good as that of most larger multiband radios. It offers the best reception on AM. There are no controls for tone or squelch. It has a red power indicator light on the front. Though it provides few extra features, it does receive more bands than most inexpensive radios of this size.
