LessWaiting.com Information Main Menu Although these two older radios are similar in many ways and look much alike, there are some minor differences. The CF-1889 has bands for receiving television audio (channels 2-13) and marine communications, while the CF-1888 does not. Also, the CF-1889 has a list of police 10-codes, with their definitions, above the battery charger power button. However, an advantage of the CF-1888 is that it can receive VHF aircraft radio communications, unlike the 1889. Both models can tune in regular AM & FM broadcasts, shortwave, the upper VHF communications band, and the NOAA/NWS weather band. They can be operated with AC power or batteries. Overall, both receivers offer the ability to receive a variety of broadcasts and communications, and have several features for improved listening. |
