Ouyama/Akira 2000N Repair Tips
The Akira and Ouyama 2000N are two very similar 35mm cameras with an adjustable aperture and a "hot shoe" for attaching an external flash. While their features and quality are debatable, one good characteristic of these cameras is that they are relatively easy to fix in some ways. Read on for tips regarding how to repair them...

FRONT PANEL AND LENS: If the front panel (below the viewfinder and hot shoe) or the lens barrel is damaged, it is fairly easy to replace. Remove two black screws on each side (directly under the neck strap mounts), then pull off the front panel. The panel and lens barrel come off as one piece, without anything attached to them. Then you can replace this module with a panel and lens barrel from another camera of this type (Benz-Gant and some Nippon cameras might also have the necessary part) and screw it in.

FLASH UNIT: If the flash unit fails, there are many compatible units - both handle mount and top mount - which will fit these cameras. One inexpensive top-mounted flash which will work is the Meikai DI-4379. Before discarding the old flash, make sure the new flash works when connected to the camera. If not, it is possible that it is a problem with the camera and not the flash.
