PC/GEOS GeoWrite Review
Although some word processors cost over $100 and require the latest operating systems and equipment, an application from 1991 still meets the vast majority of word processing needs. GeoWrite, which was part of GeoWorks Ensemble 1.2 (PC/GEOS) works great on a 10 MHz 286 and will run under the DOS operating system. Apple and Commodore 64/128 versions of GEOS and GeoWrite were also produced.

GeoWrite includes many features normally only found in expensive word processing software, including columns, adjustable line and character spacing, spell check, and page breaks. It also features a zoom function, tabs, centering, page numbers, fonts (including different styles, sizes, and colors), and margins. Users can work on more than one open document at a time.

Overall, GeoWrite remains a viable option for word processing and has the advantage of working well on older computers, without sacrificing features. The demo "Working Model" version only allows files to be saved in text format. The GeoWorks Ensemble package can occasionally be purchased on eBay, along with other GEOS software.
