About the IBM PS/2 Model 57SX Computer

The PS/2 57 SX is an older PC-compatible desktop that became available in the early 1990s. It can be used to run DOS, GEM, DeskMate, or Windows 3.x, but will not run Windows 95 or 98.

According to the '93 edition of "The Secret Guide to Computers", this model has an 80386SX processor, hence the last two letters in its name. It uses microchannel expansion cards and offers VGA video. Unlike most computers, it can accept 3.5" floppy disks up to 2.88 MB in capacity (most can only use 720k or 1.44 MB floppies).

IBM.com indicates that the 57SX was introduced during June, 1991 - the same month DOS 5.0 first appeared. IBM began selling 486s the same year, but they were quite expensive at this time.
