The CDR7930 is an older internal drive designed for installation in the standard 5.25" drive bay of a PC-compatible computer. According to its label, this unit was manufactured in 1996 and came from Japan. It is also known as Compaq part number 185634-405 or spare part number 185674-401. Its front panel only has an eject button and one indicator light. There are no volume control, play, or stop buttons. It also does not have an earphone jack. The rear panel has an IDE connector with 39 pins. There are also six jumper pins, audio out (four pins), a four-pin DC power input, and an unlabeled two-pin connector. If it should fail and you need to retrieve a CD, push a bent paperclip into the small hole at the base of the tray. Then pull on the tray door and it will open. The Hitachi CDR-7930 is mostly gray in color. The front and back are plastic, but the rest is made of metal.
