There are many benefits to buying a high-end computer. Such machines tend to offer greater quality, superior design and a more attractive or impressive appearance. Some are smaller or quieter, while others include better customer support or come with good software. However, buying a new high-end computer at the retail price certainly isn't cheap.
A few different options offer ways to avoid the high cost...
1. Buying the computer while it remains in production, but a significant period of time after it was introduced: A high-end model will cost less shortly before or after the manufacturer discontinues it. These computers remain new and far from obsolete.
2. Entering a raffle to win a high-end PC: If you become the lucky winner of such a raffle, you will have obtained the computer at a very cheap price. If not, raffle money often goes to benefit a worthy cause, and you can still proceed to use method #1 or #3.
3. Buying the computer used: Perhaps the most advantageous way to acquire a high-end computer at low cost is to buy a "pre-owned" unit. Waiting just a year after a new model appears will provide substantial savings. PCs typically become rather cheap after exceeding 2-4 years of age.
With software updates and an upgrade or two, a high-end computer will generally not be considered obsolete for eight to twelve years after production. These machines can remain useful much longer. Overall, the best method of buying such a computer at a cheap price is to have patience and wait for prices to drop.
