The Hi-Point is a serial trackball designed for mounting on the side of a notebook computer. It is probably most likely to fit notebooks from the early 1990s, but this cannot be confirmed. The '94 Micro Systems catalog listed this product for $49, including a driver disk, case, and clips for attaching it to a laptop. The Genius HiPoint also came with a serial port adapter, allowing connection to a 25-pin port if necessary. Many early laptops did not have a track ball or other pointing device built-in (thus contributing to the popularity of an add-on like this), but the vast majority made since the mid '90s do have this feature.
