"GASLAND" MOVIE REVIEW

The 2009 documentary GasLand looks at the harmful effects of fracturing-based natural gas drilling in several parts of the United States. The movie's director travels to Colorado, Texas, and other states to interview people affected by natural gas pollution.

GasLand examines the water contamination, air pollution, harm to wildlife, and safety implications of so-called "fracking". Viewers will see tap "water" explode into flames. It also covers the deceptive tactics applied by natural gas companies, Halliburton, and various government agencies.

The 107-minute documentary accomplishes this in an informative, interesting format which offers many specific facts. It is certainly not an uplifting or feel-good film, although there is the occasional bit of humor. Overall rating: 4 stars out of 5.
