The Focal 20-08-44 (20-08-44B) is a large metal tripod. It has a fully extended length of fifty-nine inches (150 cm) and a minimum length of twenty-two inches (56 cm).

It features a standard tripod screw, so it will fit the sockets on most cameras equipped with them. Examples of inexpensive camera models confirmed to fit it include the Bentley BX-3 and Lavec TC-305.

It has a total of six levers and knobs for adjustment and tightening. A folding crank raises and lowers the middle pole. The legs each have two latches/locks which lock it at a specific height.

Most of the Focal 20-08-44 is metal, but a couple handles and its "feet" are made of plastic. The unit is sturdy and allows the camera to be held very still.
