The following search engine review takes a look at FlexFinder.com, which features web, news, and video search functions...
DESIGN: FlexFinder has an uncluttered appearance and it's fairly fast, though not as fast as some search engines. The pages are too wide at low screen resolutions, making it necessary to scroll left and right; one way to remedy this is to use the "Fit to Width" function on the Opera web browser. The site is compatible with many browsers, including older software like Internet Explorer 5.5.
RESULTS: FlexFinder supplies sixteen non-sponsored results per page (higher than most engines), plus a number of sponsored listings (a few too many). The web results are relevant and of high quality. Their news search is also good, though it doesn't indicate the time/date articles were posted. It lists news articles from various newspapers, TV stations, magazines, and major web sites (like Yahoo).
Overall, FlexFinder.com has a few advantages most other engines lack, and it offers a useful alternative to the major search engines.
