Electro Brand 2971 Technical Information

POWER...

The 2971 can be powered from six "D" batteries, a DC adapter, or an AC power cord. It has a built-in battery charger, probably for Ni-Cd "D" batteries. There is an area in the battery compartment for storing the AC cord.

DIMENSIONS...

This radio measures 10" (25cm) tall, 14.5" (37cm) wide, and 4.5" (11.5cm) thick. Including the shoulder strap mounts, it measures 16" (41cm) wide. See the next paragraph for antenna lengths.

ANTENNAS...

The 2971 features three built-in antennas; a rotating AM antenna on the top and two telescoping antennas. It also has a 1/8" antenna jack for connecting an external antenna (or other RF input). One telescopic antenna (35" / 89cm long) is only for CB reception, the other (27.5" / 80cm long) is for FM/SW/VHF/TV reception. They can be fully retracted into the top.

TV BANDS...

Although this radio had very good reception of analog TV audio in the past, this is no longer possible in the U.S. because of the digital TV changeover. However, it will still perform this function in some countries, as well as in areas of the U.S. with low-power stations that still use analog.

KNOBS...

The band knob and large tuning knob can be pulled off for cleaning or replacement without disassembling the radio. It appears to be necessary to disassemble the radio to remove the balance, fine tuning, volume, and squelch knobs. If the fine tuning control should fail, turn it until the audio is clear, then avoid using it.

TAPE DECK...

The Electro Brand 2971 cassette player is similar to those in many automobiles. If it does not function properly, try using a cleaning cassette. Holding the back of the radio while ejecting a cassette will prevent it from tipping.
