This is an older desktop computer which was sold at CompUSA stores. It can run DOS, Windows 3.x, Windows 95 (albeit slowly), GEM, PC/GEOS, some versions of Linux, or DeskMate 3.05. It remains useful for many purposes. The 1993 edition of the "Secret Guide to Computers" indicates that this computer cost $899 USD new and came with four megabytes of memory, a 170 megabyte hard disk drive, and 256K video RAM. It also came with Windows 3.1, MS-DOS 6.0, a mouse, and dual floppy drives. The CompuDyne 486SX-25 may have also been sold in a "tower" style. Without upgraded video RAM, this CompuDyne PC will be limited to 16 colors at 640x480 or 64 at 640x350. It can show 256 colors, but only at a very low resolution of 320x200. Upgrading it to 512K will allow you to run Windows with 256 colors at 640x480 (or 800x600), which looks much better. DeskMate, GEM, or PC/GEOS look fine with 256k.
