The Bell South Products CI-60 is a compact, battery-powered caller ID box with a white and grey exterior. It has a large LCD, a sliding contrast control, and two phone jacks (one for the line, another for the telephone). The BellSouth CI60 is operated using four buttons on the top. To use the CI60, insert four "AAA" batteries, then connect the phone lines to it. The LCD will ask for your area code, your language (English, Spanish, French) the current year, and the current day of the week. To scroll through the options, press REVIEW-UP, then press REVIEW-DOWN when you have selected the correct option. After it is set up, the unit will show the phone number and name (if available) of the person who is calling, the next time the telephone rings. If the BellSouth CI-60's screen remains blank after the batteries are inserted, try removing them and putting them back in after a couple seconds. This happens occasionally. The major downside of this product is the short battery life. 300mAh Ni-Cd "AAA" rechargeables only seem to last about two weeks (maximum) before they need to be charged again; alkalines last somewhat longer, but you will spend a lot of money replacing them periodically. Overall, the BellSouth CI-60 is reliable and relatively easy to use, but goes through a lot of batteries. It would have been better if it had an AC power cord or was designed to use "AA" batteries (which have a higher capacity). It comes with helpful, detailed instructions.
