This older, rectangular answering machine is a desktop-style unit with announcement, memo, and conversation recording functions. The AT&T 1306 "Remote Answering System" uses a separate telephone cord and AC power adapter. It is a stand-alone unit which is not part of a telephone or caller ID box.
It also has buttons for rewind, fast-forward, stop, and save, as well as a volume control. A lid on the top opens to reveal quick reference instructions and a mini cassette tape. Overall, the AT&T 1306 is a fairly sophisticated answering machine with several extra features that some models lack.
