Here are some brief notes on various power adapters for connecting electronic devices to AC wall outlets or DC cigarette lighters...
AC ADAPTER (WALL OUTLET)
Recoton 35-12-150C: Supplies 12V at 150 mA. UL-listed. Chinese-made. Black. Eventually developed loud buzzing noise. Relatively small/light.
Bentley 1000: Provides 12 volts at 700 mA. Black. Medium size/weight. UL-listed. High quality adapter. Made during the 1980s. Manufactured in Taiwan.
Generic AD-0901000AU: Supplies 9V at 1000 mA. Taiwanese-made, UL-listed. Fairly small. Compatible with CompUSA 289090 dial-up modem. High quality.
Generic RGD48-121200: 12V @ 1200 mA. UL-listed. May develop large cracks with regular wall outlet use. Using a floor outlet or power strip is safer.
DC ADAPTER (CIGARETTE LIGHTER)
Bentley DC Auto Adapter DLP-1033: 12V, uses 2A fuse. Large plug and thick, heavy-duty cord. Well-made. Manufactured in Korea. Older unit, compatible with some TVs. UL-listed.
Generics: Many generic and brand-name products now come with cheap DC adaptors that have thin cords, which are easily damaged (or detached) with regular use in an automobile.
