Review: 3Com Noteworthy Modem 3CXM056-BNW

This is a small 56kbps modem for transferring data over telephone lines. It fits into a standard PCMCIA expansion slot, which can be found on the sides of many laptop computer systems.

The 3Com 3CXM056-BNW conveniently has an XJACK built into the side; when pushed, it pops out and allows a regular phone cord to be inserted. Thus no special cable or adapter is necessary.

This 56k PC Card modem can be used in a wide range of notebook computers and operating systems, including DOS and Windows. It establishes connections quickly and functions reliably.

To use this device under DOS on a Compaq laptop such as the LTE Elite series, you will need SoftPaq SP1045 and SoftPaq SP1034, which contain the necessary software and drivers.
